She provides care to both women and men, offering a range of treatments for skin and hair-related concerns. Her approach is conservative and centred on individual patient needs.

Her experience includes practising aesthetic medicine in both the UK and Australia. She incorporates techniques that may involve regenerative medicine approaches, where appropriate.

Dr Mais takes time to build professional relationships with patients and works with them to support informed decisions about their care.

Aesthetic Concerns

  • Lines and wrinkles are a common change that may occur in the skin over time. They can be influenced by factors such as reduced collagen and elastin production, repeated facial expressions, sun exposure, and the natural ageing process. Fine lines are typically more shallow and often appear in areas of facial movement, while wrinkles may appear as deeper folds in the skin.

  • Facial volume loss may occur as part of natural changes over time. It is often characterised by reduced collagen and elastin, changes in fat distribution, and reduced skin elasticity and firmness. These changes can contribute to the appearance of:

    • Hollowing in the cheeks

    • Changes in the temples

    • Folds beside the nose and mouth

    • Thinning of the lips.

  • Dark circles and puffiness under the eyes are a common concern that may affect the appearance of the eye area. They can be influenced by factors such as genetics, sleep quality, hydration, allergies, sun exposure, or natural changes. Under-eye puffiness may also be related to fluid retention or lifestyle factors. Approaches that may support overall skin health include maintaining hydration, ensuring regular sleep, managing allergies, and protecting the skin from sun exposure.

  • Skin may sometimes appear less even in tone or texture, and may look less bright than usual. This can be influenced by a range of factors such as:

    • Dehydration

    • Daily skin care practices

    • Environmental exposure

    • Natural changes.

These factors can contribute to skin that appears less refreshed or smooth.

Skin Boosters

Skin boosters are treatments that involve microinjections of hyaluronic acid to help improve skin hydration. They are used in aesthetic practice for concerns such as skin dryness, texture, and fine lines.

  • Skin boosters contain hyaluronic acid, which is injected in small amounts under the skin to increase hydration. They are used for concerns such as dryness, changes in skin texture, and fine lines.

  • Skin boosters typically consist of microdroplets of hyaluronic acid, which are placed into the skin to increase hydration. This approach is used to support skin quality over time, though responses can vary.

    • Skin hydration

    • Skin elasticity and firmness

    • Appearance of fine lines and wrinkles

    • Skin brightness and overall quality

    Effects vary between individuals

  • The duration of skin booster effects can vary depending on individual skin characteristics and skincare routine. In many cases, effects are observed for several months and in some individuals up to around a year. Maintenance sessions may be recommended to help sustain results.

  • The number of skin booster sessions can vary depending on individual skin concerns and treatment goals. Typically, a series of treatments spaced several weeks apart may be recommended, with results and duration differing between individuals.

  • Skin boosters may be considered for individuals with concerns such as skin hydration, texture, dryness, fine lines, and dullness. Suitability should be assessed by a qualified health practitioner.

Platelet-Rich-Plasma

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy is a treatment that involves using a patient’s own blood, which is processed and applied to the skin. PRP is used for concerns such as skin texture, tone, fine lines, wrinkles, and scarring.

  • PRP is a treatment that uses platelets found in the patient’s blood. A small amount of blood is drawn and processed to concentrate the platelets, which can then be injected or applied to the skin.

  • PRP contains platelets, which release growth factors and proteins. In cosmetic medicine, PRP is used for concerns such as skin texture, tone, fine lines, wrinkles, and scarring. Responses vary between individuals.

    • Changes in skin texture

    • Changes in skin tone

    • Changes in the appearance of scars

    Results can vary between individuals.

  • The PRP treatment process involves drawing a small amount of blood from the patient, processing it to concentrate the platelets, and then applying the PRP to the treatment area through injections or topical use. The procedure is usually completed within a single appointment.

  • The number of PRP sessions can vary depending on the individual and their treatment plan. Some people may have a series of sessions spaced several weeks apart, while others may require fewer.

Rejuran

Rejuran is a skin treatment that involves injecting polynucleotides (PN) into the skin. PN are made up of DNA fragments derived from salmon. In aesthetic practice, Rejuran is used for concerns including skin elasticity, hydration, and overall skin quality.

  • When Rejuran is injected into the skin, PN interact with the tissue and supports processes related to collagen and skin repair. This can lead to improvements in skin elasticity, hydration, and texture over time, although responses vary between individuals.

    • Skin elasticity

    • Hydration

    • Fine lines and wrinkles

    • Skin texture

    • Overall skin health

    Effects vary between individuals

  • Rejuran treatment usually involves a series of small injections into targeted areas of the skin. Some discomfort, swelling, or redness may occur at the injection sites, but these effects are generally temporary and resolve within a short time.

  • The number of Rejuran sessions can vary depending on individual skin concerns and treatment goals. In many cases, multiple sessions spaced several weeks apart are performed to achieve and maintain improvements.

  • Possible side effects of Rejuran include temporary redness, swelling, bruising, or tenderness at the injection site. These effects are usually mild and resolve within a short period.

Platelet-Rich-Fibrin

PRF is a natural treatment derived from the patient’s own blood. It involves the extraction and concentration of fibrin, platelets, and other components to create a fibrin matrix that can be used for aesthetic and therapeutic purposes.

  • PRF is a natural treatment derived from the patient’s own blood. It involves the extraction and concentration of fibrin, platelets, and other components to create a fibrin matrix that can be used for aesthetic and therapeutic purposes.

  • PRF is created by centrifuging a sample of the patient’s blood to separate and concentrate the fibrin and platelets. The PRF matrix contains platelets and growth factors and is applied to the treatment area. These components are used in medicine in relation to skin quality, tissue repair, and wound care.

  • PRF helps with:

    • Skin texture and tone

    • Fine lines and wrinkles

    • Scarring

    • Wound care

    • Tissue repair

  • The PRF process involves drawing a small amount of blood from the patient, centrifuging it to isolate the PRF, and then applying the PRF matrix to the treatment area through injections, topical application, or incorporation into other aesthetic procedures.

  • The number of PRF sessions can vary based on individual skin concerns and treatment goals.

  • PRF is generally well-tolerated, as it uses the patient’s own blood components. Potential side effects may include swelling, redness, or bruising at the injection sites. These effects are usually temporary and subside within a short time.

Medical Concerns

  • Hyperhidrosis is a medical condition characterised by excessive sweating beyond what is necessary for regulating body temperature. It can affect various parts of the body, with the most common areas being the underarms, palms, soles of the feet, and face. Hyperhidrosis may be caused by overactive sweat glands, hormonal changes, underlying medical conditions, or genetic predisposition.

  • Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) bruxism, also known as teeth grinding, is a condition characterised by involuntary clenching or grinding of the teeth, often during sleep but can also occur during the day. This can place pressure on the jaw joint and the surrounding muscles, and may contribute to symptoms such as jaw pain, headaches, earaches, and damaged teeth. TMJ bruxism can be caused by various factors, including stress, anxiety, misalignment of the teeth or jaw, or sleep disorders.
